The Friends of Dalmeny Street Park

Latest projects ...

The Friends of Dalmeny Street Park have organised, over the past 2 years, several community events, including picnics, community gardening, basketball tournaments, football 5-aside, picnics and have also been involved in shaping local projects:

Streetlife, a magazine designed by local young people was released on March 25th at the Drill Hall. This project was developed by Out of the Blue, in partnership with the Capital City Partnership, Streetwork and the Port of Leith Housing Association .

Young people worked with photographer Craig Maclean and designer Emma Westwater to create a magazine that gives them a voice for the future of Dalmeny Street Park, and explaining the need for a shelter.

The Planters Project saw the construction of three raised-bed planters made from Scottish oak sourced from the Woodschool sawmill in Jedburgh. This project runs in collaboration with the Scottish National Heritage, and will culminate in a spring planting session with the ECO Committee from the Lorne Primary School.

The raised-bed planters were designed to prevent dogs digging out flowers & saplings from the ground level beds which are now in a state of neglect. Several upgrades made last year to the park were unfortunately not sustainable and the Planters project is an attempt to tackle this.
