Greener Leith Bringing People Together to Improve Leith's Open Spaces

Leith Central Community Council

The purpose of Community Councils is to express local opinion to the local authority and other public bodies operating in their area. They have a statutory right to be consulted on planning and licensing issues but Community Councils were designed NOT to be party political and their boundaries, as the case in Leith, approximately align with the new multi-member council wards to represent geographically distinct communities.

IS: an arts and education trust based in Edinburgh

CREATES: opportunities for everyone to participate in the arts

GENERATES: space and community for artists

COLLABORATES: with artists in all media from all over the world

PROMOTES: events, concerts, clubs and exhibitions

PROVIDES: cheap studios, rehearsal rooms, performance venues, exhibition space and administrative support

COMMISSIONS: art projects from the local community and beyond

EDUCATES: with hands-on training projects


Pilmeny Youth Centre Local youth centre, with several facilities including PC's, pool, outdoor area, indoor sports. Currently running the Leith Open Spaces Proejct drop in club on Monday evenings 1830-2030.

Port of Leith Housing Association The Association was formed in 1975 and has been at the heart of the regeneration of Leith ever since.
A voluntary organisation, the Association operates on a not for profit basis.
Our aim is to improve the quality of life for people in Leith and encourage the development of a sustainable healthy and attractive community.
